Erin Blanchfield and Manon Fiorotto are one step closer to winning flyweight gold.
At Friday's official weigh-in at UFC Atlantic City, the 125-pound contenders succeeded in reaching the mark, with Fiorotto stepping on the scale first at 125.25 pounds, followed shortly after by Blanchfield at 125 pounds. Ta.
Both players are aiming to win titles in the near future. Blanchfield is ranked third in the world MMA fighting rankings, with Fiorotto a close second in fifth place.
In the co-main event, No. 13 welterweight Vicente Luque will defend his spot against knockout artist Joaquin Buckley. Luque and Buckley both managed to make weights of 170 pounds.
Also notable is former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman at 186 pounds, as is his opponent Bruno Silva. Weidman, who began his professional fighting career in New Jersey's Ring of Combat promotion, appears to be breaking out of a 1-4 slump.
Featherweight Julio Arce is one of the fighters who missed Saturday's card weigh-in at Boardwalk Hall. Competing in his first fight since November 2022, Arce weighed one pound over the 145-pound limit (including the one-pound allowance for non-title fights). It is still unclear whether the match against Herbert Burns will take place as scheduled, and if it does, how much Arce's wallet will be forfeited as a penalty.
This is the second time in his UFC career that Arce has dropped weight. In his fight against Daniel Santos in April 2022, he was 0.5 pounds over the bantamweight limit.
