The two middleweights with striking power approaching that of heavyweights are scheduled to clash at UFC 307 this fall.
Chris Curtis (31-11 MMA, 5-3 UFC) will face Kevin Holland (26-11 MMA, 13-8 UFC) at an event scheduled for Oct. 5 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. People with knowledge of the matchup told MMA Junkie that the bout has been scheduled. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because the fight has not been officially announced by UFC.
Curtis needs to get back on track after losing to Brendan Allen in the main event in April. Allen dominated Curtis over five rounds in the rematch to win a unanimous decision. Curtis earned himself a bonus in 2021 by knocking out Allen, but Allen got his revenge three months ago. Curtis was looking to make another step forward following his win over Marc-Andre Barrio in January.
Holland returned to the middleweight division in June and defeated Michal Oleksiejczuk via armbar at UFC 302, ending a two-fight losing streak at welterweight that began with his UFC debut against Jack Della Maddalena and Michael Page. The win also earned Holland his eighth post-fight bonus at UFC.
With this addition, the UFC 307 lineup now includes:
- Movsar Evloev vs. Aljamain Sterling
- Chris Curtis vs. Kevin Holland
- Iasmin Lucindo vs. Marina Rodriguez
- Cesar Almeida vs. Ihor Potielia
