Amidst all the war of words, O'Malley successfully defended his title against Ecuador's Marlon Vera at UFC 299, and Garcia accepted his offer for an MMA fight. Garcia recognized the skill Shawn showed at UFC 299, saying:He did well. Good, it was a good job fighting aggressively. But let's see what Sean O'Malley can do going forward.”
