FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — U.S. Soccer today plans to break ground on its new national training center and organizational headquarters located in Fayette County.
Metro Atlanta was announced last year as the new home of U.S. Soccer. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Monday.

Attendees include Gov. Brian Kemp, Falcons and Atlanta United owner Arthur M. Blank, U.S. Soccer CEO JT Batson and U.S. Soccer President Cindy Perlow, according to a news release. It's planned.
The facility will turn an empty lot, currently overgrown with trees and grass, into a 200-acre complex that will cost about $200 million to build.
“We are very excited about what U.S. Soccer will bring to our community,” said Niki Vanderslice, president and CEO of the Fayette County Development Authority.
In a release from U.S. Soccer, the Trillis area of Fayette County is described as “a diverse and growing area with proximity and accessibility to major international airports, an ideal climate for year-round use, viable site infrastructure, and opportunities for growth.” They added that they were selected based on criteria such as “support from the community”.
