After one season with the Washington Wizards, Tyus Jones has found a new home with the Phoenix Suns.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Jones agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Suns.
Jones informed Wojnarowski of his decision to join Phoenix.
“The opportunity to play for the Phoenix Suns made sense for me and my family in many ways. [governor] Matt Ishbia and the front office hired me as coach. [Mike Budenholzer] He has shown that he can make a big impact as the starting point guard on a team that has a real chance to challenge for an NBA title.
“My agent [Bradbury] “There were multiple free agent offers and sign-and-trade proposals at various economic levels that were explained to me and my family, but the opportunity with the Suns is one where I can maximize my value heading into free agency next year as well as give myself a chance to be part of what I believe will be a special team and season.”
Let's take a look at the team's latest depth chart.
Suns 2024-25 roster depth chart

The Wizards acquired Jones from the Memphis Grizzlies in June 2023 as part of a three-team trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis to the Boston Celtics.
Playing in Washington allows Jones to become a full-time starter for the first time in his career after playing behind Ja Morant with Memphis and Ricky Rubio with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Not much went right for the Wizards last season, but Jones was certainly a big plus, starting 66 games and averaging career highs in points (12.0), assists (7.3), field goal percentage (48.9) and 3-point shooting percentage (41.4).
As the trade deadline approached, there were rumors Washington was looking to trade Jones for future assets, but he ended up staying with the team throughout the season.
While the Wizards are in desperate need of a reset heading into next season, this may not have been their best move: They set a franchise record for losses in a single season (67) during the 2023-24 season, avoiding the NBA's worst record only because the Detroit Pistons were historically weak.
But for Jones, the situation with the Suns This will give him a chance to compete for a playoff spot and showcase his abilities.
