RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk were both children the last time there was an undisputed world heavyweight champion. Now, 25 years later, both are great fighters looking to join very prestigious clubs.

On November 13, 1999, in a legendary battle of boxing, Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in Las Vegas to solidify the IBF, WBA, and WBC titles. Although Lewis never sought to defend his status as the undisputed champion, his spectacular victory established the hard-hitting Englishman as the greatest heavyweight of his generation.
Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) already holds every title in the glamor division, but not at the same time. In the first superfight of 2015, the British switch hitter outclassed the legendary Wladimir Klitschko to win the IBF, WBA, WBO and Ring Magazine championships. After a long hiatus from boxing, the enigmatic Fury returned in 2020 and wrested the WBC title from previously undefeated American Deontay Wilder.
Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) became the undisputed cruiserweight champion in 2018 and moved up to heavyweight the following year. After two wins, the Ukrainian southpaw was ready to take on another British superstar, Anthony Joshua. Usyk dethroned 'AJ' from the IBF, WBA, and WBO title holders and captured The Ring Championship with yet another point victory in a direct rematch.
Both fighters have huge paychecks guaranteed, but the money is far secondary to the chance to define this legend. Sporting News will provide undercard results and a complete report on the undisputed title fight.
