Florida State is nearing the halfway point of spring practice. With the physicality and level of competition that the Seminoles bring to the field, it is inevitable that injuries will occur. After all, it's football.
After Thursday's practice, head coach Mike Norvell informed the media that two more players will be out for the rest of the spring. Sophomore wide receiver Destin Hill and redshirt sophomore tight end Gerard Powers are both working their way back from injury. Hill collapsed during a recent practice, but Norvell did not explain the exact illness he has.

This is an unfortunate situation, as Hill has been one of Florida State's most consistent wide receivers thus far. He brought plenty of energy to the field while making one or two big plays during practice.
“I have one announcement. Destin Hill will be out for the rest of the spring, but he was injured the other day and will be out. Gerard Powers is definitely going to miss the rest of spring practice.” Nobel said Thursday. Of course, we're going to continue to assess where things are going and what the scope is going to be as we head into the fall. I wanted to give you an update on the personnel side of these two players, but they are scheduled to be out until the end of spring. ”
The former four-star recruit in the 2021 class arrived at Florida State last summer to begin his college career and excelled in the season opener against LSU. Hill ended up appearing in 10 games, making his first start in the win over Virginia Tech. This year, he caught six passes for 87 yards. Hill was limited at several points in the season as he was trying to overcome his ankle injury.
Powers spent most of his three seasons with the Seminoles after playing wide receiver in high school and transitioning to the tight end position. He redshirted in 2022 and made his debut in last year's home opener against Southern Miss. Powers is one of five scholarship spots, along with redshirt senior Kyle Morlock, redshirt junior Jackson West, junior Brian Courtney and true freshman Landen Thomas. It's a person.
Norvell previously announced that offensive tackle Robert Scott, defensive tackle Joshua Farmer and defensive back Jamari Howard would miss the remainder of the spring.
