LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – After more than a decade of wait, college football is on the brink of making its long-awaited return to the world of video games with just over a week until the release of EA Sports College Football 25, set to launch on July 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This is the first college football video game to be released since NCAA Football 14 nearly 11 years ago.
Ahead of the game's release, EA Sports released a list of the game's top 100 players on launch day, along with their overall and other basic ratings. Two Cardinals players were included in the top 100: cornerback Quincy Riley and defensive end Ashton Gillotte.
Riley is the higher of the two, earning himself the 40th-best player in the game with an overall rating of 92. He has speed of 92, acceleration of 96, strength of 59, awareness of 89 and a jump of 95. Girotto is the 72nd-best player with an overall rating of 90, speed of 84, acceleration of 93, strength of 87, awareness of 91 and a jump of 88.
The ACC has 15 of the top 100 players in college football's 25, tied with the Big 12 for third-most in the game. The Big Ten leads with 31, followed by the SEC with 29. Michigan CB Will Johnson, Louisiana State OT Will Campbell, Oklahoma State RB Ollie Gordon II, Tennessee DE James Pierce and Ohio State S Caleb Downs round out the top five.
Riley has been a key part of Louisville's defense since transferring from Middle Tennessee ahead of the 2022 season. The 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the ACC last season.
Riley finished the 2023 season with a team-high 12 interceptions, second on the Cardinals with three, and his 15 passes defensed were the most in the conference, but he was only named All-ACC honorable mention despite also recording 49 tackles and 1.5 for a loss in the process.
Throughout the 2023 season, Girotto was not only Louisville's most impactful defender, but one of the top defensive linemen in all of college football.
The 6-foot-3, 270-pound star edge rusher recorded 14.5 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and 45.0 total tackles. His sack totals are first in the ACC, eighth in the FBS and currently ninth on Louisville's all-time single-season sack list. He has been nominated multiple times for second-team All-American honors for his performance.
