The USC Trojans appear to be one of the top landing spots for top quarterback Komani McClain in the transfer portal, according to Tom Roy of 247Sports.
Roy reported that the Trojans are “all in” on McClain and that USC has a good chance of grabbing him.
McClain entered the transfer portal on Tuesday. The University of South Florida Bulls are also ranked highly. The former five-star recruit enrolled at the University of Colorado as a freshman. McClain is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds. In his 2023 high school class, he was the No. 14 overall, No. 1 corner, and No. 4 player in his home state of Florida.
“For the Trojans, I hear their plan is to attack McClain,” Roy wrote. “He's seen as a player who has immediate talent and can help right away. If there's a change and they reject it, that would help South Florida's chances a lot.” However, if the Trojans do everything in their power to make the much-needed transfer, USC should be seen as the main threat this time around.
USC's defense last season was terrible in every aspect, especially in the secondary. The Trojans allow opponents to complete 64 percent of their passes (104th), 7.7 yards per pass (87th), and allow opponents 246.4 passing yards per game (93rd).
McClain will certainly provide an instant spark to the Troinsand Danton Lyn defense in 2024.
Let's see how aggressive the Trojans become.
