Tri-City Martial Arts (TCMA) of Pleasanton sent 11 athletes to compete in the North American Sport Taekwondo Association (NASTA) National Championships held June 21st and 22nd in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Athletes competed in traditional sword fighting, point sparring, flag sparring and Olympic sparring.
In total, TCMA won 26 gold medals, 12 silver medals and four bronze medals. The organization also captured the 2024 Forms National Champion title for the third consecutive year, with Adessa Wiesehan taking first place.
Instructor Peter Bonin congratulated his students and their performance in the competition.
“Once they got to Hutchinson, they showed true indomitable spirit. They were brave, they took on new warriors that they'd never seen before. They were just amazing,” Bonin said. “They made me very proud, they made our school proud and they definitely made our little town proud.”
