Unbeaten WBO 154-pound No. 5 contender Xander Zayas (18-0, 12 KOs) will face Brazilian knockout artist Patrick Teixeira (34-4, 25 KOs) in a 10-round test bout on ESPN.
The 21-year-old Zayas is being rushed by promoter Bob Arum to capitalize on the interest in the 154-pound division and, with any luck, could get a chance to face Terence Crawford before moving up to 168 pounds.
Fight Night Details
Tonight's Zayas vs. Teixeira main card will be broadcast live on ESPN from the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City at 11pm ET/8pm PT.
B247 has live updates and results from tonight's matches below.
The main supporting bout will be a 10-round fight between featherweights Bruce Carrington and Brian De Gracia.
The preliminary card will air on ESPN+ starting at 7:30 pm ET.
Zayas has yet to face a big-name opponent that would put him on the map, but he may be on his way to stardom, especially with the junior middleweight division opening up, Crawford fighting in that division and Tim Tszyu being dethroned.
Social Media Presence: The Missing Piece
What Zayas lacks is a social media presence. He doesn't have as much of a social media presence as he should and management needs to work with him to improve on this. If he doesn't promote himself on Instagram and X, then he can't expect promoters at Top Rank to make him a star on his own.
