If Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones were to actually fight, Jones would likely be the underdog.
Aspinall has officially been upgraded to the betting favorite over Jones for the UFC heavyweight title unification bout following another outstanding performance from the Briton, who defended his interim title with a 60-second knockout of Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304. Following the win, Aspinall is now priced at -150 to beat Jones (+130) according to online sportsbook BetOnline. This is a stark difference from the odds in July 2023, when Aspinall was priced at +170 underdogs and Jones was priced at -200 favorites.
The 31-year-old Aspinall is 7-1 at UFC heavyweight since 2020. His only loss in that span came when he injured his knee just 15 seconds into their first bout, but that loss has now been avenged in impressive fashion. Aspinall's wins have included many fighters currently ranked in the UFC heavyweight division, including Blaydes, Sergey Pavlovic, Marcin Tybura, Alexander Volkov and Sergey Spivac.
Jones, 37, is widely considered the best light heavyweight in MMA history but has only fought once at heavyweight, winning the vacant UFC heavyweight title with a first-round submission victory over Ciril Gane in March 2023. Jones is scheduled to return to action in November against former champion Stipe Miocic in a bout that has been met with mixed reviews among MMA fans.
Aspinall again criticized Jones after his win at UFC 304, but Jones only responded with a cryptic tweet saying, “Supply & demand at its best. Awesome.”
