The Chicago Wolves and Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to a three-year partnership agreement in which the Wolves will serve as the Hurricanes' top developmental affiliate starting in 2024-25.
As part of the agreement, the Hurricanes will oversee the Wolves' hockey operations decisions.
“We are excited to re-establish the AHL partnership with Chicago and are grateful that we were able to find a solution that works for both clubs,” said Hurricanes President and General Manager. . Don Waddell. “Many of our promising players have already achieved success with Wolves, both individually and as a team, and we are pleased to have ensured they have a consistent environment for their development.”
The Hurricanes were previously affiliated with the Wolves from 2020 to 2023, a relationship that included two district titles and a Calder Cup championship in 2022.Current Carolina players who will skate for the Wolves during that time include: jack drury, Seth Jarvis, Stefan Norsen, jalen chatfield and Pyotr Kochetkov.
Carolina also won the Calder Cup in 2019 while with the Charlotte Checkers.Their prospects for that season included current NHL players. Martin Necas, morgan geeky, jake bean, Nicholas Roy, Haydn Fleury, Stephen Lorenz and Alex Nedeljkovic.
Since joining the American Hockey League in 2001, the Wolves have won 10 district titles and three Calder Cups (2002, 2008, 2022). Chicago operated without an NHL affiliate from 2023 to 2024, finishing seventh in the Central Division with a 23-23 record. 35-7-7 (60 points).
