Boxing expert Tim Bradley says Devin Haney has a good chance to avenge Ryan Garcia in a rematch.
Tim said if Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) can fight Haney (31-1, 15 KOs) at the same weight next time and have a fair fight instead of going 3.2 pounds overweight like he did last Friday, I believe Devin will too. win.
Bradley believes Ryan's weight advantage played a big role in his 12-round majority decision win over Haney last Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Tim doesn't like that Ryan didn't try to lose his 3.2 pounds and that it gave Ryan an unfair advantage.
One of Bradley's concerns is that Haney took 12 rounds of punishment against the bigger and stronger Ryan. Bradley thinks it might be difficult for Haney to come back from there. But if he does, Bradley says there's a good chance Haney will beat Ryan.
Weight advantage made the difference
Boxing expert Tim Bradley told Sean Zittel's YouTube channel, “I think if they do it again in an even fight, Haney might beat him,” and if the weights of both fighters overlap, Devin might beat him. Haney spoke about his belief that he can beat Ryan Garcia in a rematch. Same thing without Garcia having the weight advantage.
Many fans believe that in the rematch, Haney will box Ryan from the outside and clinch him every time he gets close. Haney thus fought Regis Prograis and George Kambosos Jr.
“Haney took a lot of damage. He got his ass whipped, so it's going to be hard to be the same after getting that kind of ass whipping,” Bradley continued. “A guy who comes in overweight, especially 3.5 pounds, is a lot of weight.”
If Haney loses his punch tolerance and confidence, it may be difficult for him to return. It will be tough for Haney to lose to an opponent he was healthyly expected to beat.
Bradley demands a fair rematch
“If it wasn’t a lot. [of weight]why didn't you do that? [Ryan Garcia] Would you like to try making it? [at the weigh-in last Friday]. Haney saved the show. That being said, he should make Ryan Garcia respect the rematch. “If he beats Haney fair and square, weight-for-weight, pound-for-pound, and gets to that weight class, I'll give him all the praise in the world,” Bradley said.
