The countdown to NFL kickoff has begun, which means the countdown to fantasy football drafts has also begun. Will Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks be named a fantasy football “sleeper”?
Fantasy football managers are no stranger to the speedy Cooks, who has recorded six seasons of 1,000+ yards, which is tied for third-most in the NFL since being drafted in 2014. Cooks has played in two Super Bowls, once with the New England Patriots and once with the Los Angeles Rams.
The highly-regarded Cooks was named a top-20 fantasy receiver six times in seven seasons from 2015-2021.
Last offseason, the Cowboys acquired Cooks from Houston in a trade involving a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick. After a slow start to the season, Cooks' usage and production improved in the second half of the season. Last year, Cooks finished with 657 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, including a 173-yard reception against the New York Giants.
Cooks is Dallas' No. 2 receiver behind CeeDee Lamb and has been designated a “sleeper” by PFF.
That's because Cooks saw good chemistry and momentum with quarterback Dak Prescott late in the season, and both are looking to expand on that relationship in 2024.
“Yeah, I'm ready to go,” Cooks said during Cowboys team activities. “Don't get me wrong, I'm a leader, but I'm also a playmaker. My mindset is, I'm just looking forward to getting the season going and getting in shape, like I know I have a place in this offense. Leading from a teammate standpoint, but also going out on the court and making a lot more plays than I did last year.”
The Dallas Cowboys will return to Oxnard, California, on July 25 to begin their 65th training camp.
