Recruiting activity for the University of Michigan Wolverines has been relatively quiet in early July, but that could change dramatically next week. On Monday, July 8, four-star tight end Andrew Olesch is scheduled to announce his school preferences. Olesch, the No. 2 overall pick out of the state of Pennsylvania and the No. 4 tight end in the nation according to 247 Sports, is currently considered the favorite to select the Wolverines, which could mean a lot for Michigan's Class of 2025 recruits.
Olesch is one of three offensive weapons Michigan is likely to add in the coming weeks.
The University of Michigan's decision day for one of the top tight end prospects in the country is expected to be July 8. Seems to be leading On the way. At 6'5″ and 215 pounds, Andrew Olesch has everything you could want in a tight end. He finished his junior season with 53 catches, 972 yards and 10 touchdowns, and his athleticism as a tight end could make him a very dangerous target at the next level. He took three visits in June, visiting Penn State, Florida and Michigan. At this point, the battle appears to be narrowed down to two top-tier programs: Alabama and Michigan.
While Alabama certainly has a lot to offer, the same can be said for the reigning national champions in Ann Arbor. During a recent visit, Olesch revealed he spent a fair amount of time with junior tight end Colston Loveland, who is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“It's huge to have Colston Loveland welcoming me. He's a projected first-round draft pick. I'm looking forward to reuniting with everyone and being back on campus,” Olesch said before his visit.
It's clear that Michigan has made Olesh a priority, and it starts with head coach Sherone Moore. The four-star prospect said Moore has always been in contact with the tight end, and they've developed a great relationship throughout the recruiting process.
“Coach Moore replaced Coach Harbaugh last year and showed he could win games and lead well. He's always checking in on me and we have a great relationship.”
As of this writing, 247 Sports has three projections for Olesch, all favoring the University of Michigan: The Wolverines currently have 13 players committed to their 2025 class, which ranks 21st nationally (seventh in the Big Ten Conference).
