The International Boxing Association (IBA) has reaffirmed its commitment to the development and growth of boxing coaches around the world. Recognising the vital role coaches play in shaping athletes' success, the IBA is investing heavily in the training of its coaches from 1-star level onwards, focusing not only on technical skills but also on a holistic understanding of an athlete's physical, cognitive and psychological processes.
The IBA strongly believes that coaches are the cornerstone of boxing and that to be a great coach, you need to not only teach boxing techniques but also inspire passion, discipline, charisma and values through your teaching.”
With these priorities in mind, the IBA, through the dedicated efforts of its Coaches Committee and Development Department, is committed to reviewing its 1-star level programs and providing continuous development opportunities and various refresher conferences. These efforts are aimed at equipping coaches with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles well and contribute to the holistic development of athletes.
The IBA is delighted to witness strong demand for the certification course from National Federations around the world. The active participation of coaches from different continents is a testament to their dedication and commitment towards their athletes and the future of the sport.
Since the beginning of 2024, the IBA has hosted several successful courses, including the IBA 1 Star Coach Online Course in India, Ecuador, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia and Ireland, which have provided valuable learning opportunities for coaches and fostered a global network of boxing professionals committed to excellence.
Going forward, the IBA is pleased to announce the launch of 1-Star Coaches Courses. The Iran Boxing Federation will host an online course from 1-10 August 2024, followed by the Brazilian Boxing Federation from 10-20 September 2024. These courses will further broaden the reach of the IBA's coach training programs, enabling coaches to enhance their skills and contribute to the growth of boxing in their respective regions. Additionally, 2- and 3-Star Coaches Courses are currently being redeveloped and more information on dates will be announced at a later date.
National Federations should direct requests for upcoming IBA education courses and other inquiries to the IBA Development Department at development@iba.sport.
