LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Tech University Museum will hold two public events Thursday, according to a press release.
“Art of Seeing” will be held at Diamond M Gallery from 10:30 a.m. According to a press release, the program teaches an easy and rewarding way to observe art skills while also developing observational and communication skills.
Events in the series include “Diamond M Women: Artists and Forms,” which celebrates the opening of a new Diamond M exhibition on the art of female artists. The exhibition will focus on the stories and artwork of women included in the Diamond M collection.
The event, “Protecting Treasures, Ensuring Peace: The FBI and HSI's Fight Against Illegal Trafficking in Art and Cultural Heritage,” begins at 6 p.m.
At this event, a senior adviser from the Department of Homeland Security will give a public education lecture about how the amount of trafficked art and cultural heritage continues to grow across the state and around the world. FBI Agent Randolph “Randy” J. Deaton IV will also share what the agency is doing to combat these issues.
The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM, and closed on Monday. The museum's website provides detailed information about these two events.
