Joey Maguire and the Texas Tech football team received a special Fourth of July celebration.
Lubbock Cooper University wide receiver Michael Dever has committed to the Red Raiders, he announced on social media on Thursday. Dever had previously committed to Colorado State University.
Dever (6-foot-2, 175 pounds) caught 40 of 50 passes for 672 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Pirates as a junior and advanced to the Class 5A UIL State Track and Field Meet in the high jump, where he placed sixth with a leap of 6-foot-2.
Dever will help fill a hole at receiver in Tech's enrollment class of 2025. Arlington native Isaiah Robertson committed to Texas Tech in November but announced his commitment to SMU earlier this week. Dever also had offers from North Texas and Memphis, among others.
This is a continuation of the Woodrow to Texas Tech pipeline that has been going on for years. Most recently, offensive linemen Kayden Carr and Holton Hendricks joined consecutive Red Raiders recruiting classes after finishing their high school careers at Lubbock Cooper High School. The 2024 roster also includes several players from area schools such as Coronado, Trinity Christian and Abernathy.
Dever is the sixth receiver to commit to the 2025 class and the 18th player overall.
