Like other teams around the country, the Texas Tech baseball team will be making some changes to its roster for the 2025 season thanks to the transfer portal.
The Red Raiders came into the 2024 season with a disappointing 33-26 overall, 12-17 in the Big 12 Conference and missing the NCAA Regional Tournament for the first time since 2015. Head coach Tim Tadlock will be looking to turn things around.
Here we take a look at the Red Raiders searching for new homes through the transfer portal, the players coming to Texas Tech and the departing seniors.
Texas Tech baseball players enter transfer portal
Gavin Kash, senior, first baseman/infielder, 6-foot-3, 210 pounds
2024 Statistics: 56 games, 55 starts, batting average .300, OPS .926, 15 home runs, 51 RBIs, 17 doubles, slugging percentage .561, strikeouts 63, on-base percentage .365%
Points to note: In his two years with the Red Raiders, Kash tied the team for home runs with 41 and drove in 135 runs batted in. He is eligible to be selected in the 2024 MLB Draft with one year of eligibility remaining. On June 3, DI Baseball's Kendall Rogers reported that he had been sent to the transfer portal.
Owen Washburn, Sr., outfielder/right-hand pitcher, 6'1″, 200 lbs.
2024 Statistics: 38 games, 29 starts, batting average .292, OPS .901, 6 home runs, 23 RBIs, slugging percentage .513, on-base percentage .444
Points to note: Washburn missed most of the 2023 season with a shoulder injury after receiving honorable mention all-conference in 2022. He also missed seven games of the 2024 season after suffering a facial injury from a foul ball that hit the dugout during a game on April 19. He had 16 home runs and 83 RBI in 104 games at Tech. He was reported to be moving into the portal on June 3 by Pro Baseball Radar.

Landon Stripling, sophomore infielder, 6'0″, 200 lbs.
2024 Statistics: 33 games, 24 starts, batting average .253, 4 home runs, 20 RBIs, OPS .765, slugging percentage .404
Points to note: He was reported to the transfer portal by Kendall Rogers of DI Baseball on June 3. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Gage Harrelson Jr., outfielder, 6'3″, 175 lbs.
2024 Statistics: 43 games, 29 starts, batting average .245, home runs 11, RBIs 33, slugging percentage .311, OPS .722
Points to note: He was named a College Baseball Freshman All-American in 2023. He announced his entry into the transfer portal via Instagram on May 30. His batting average has dropped from .324 as a freshman.
Travis Sanders, R-SO, infielder, 6'1″, 185 lbs.
2024 Statistics: 13 games, 6 starts, batting average .242, 5 doubles, 7 RBIs, OPS .784
Points to note: He was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 14th round of the 2022 MLB Draft. He will redshirt the 2023 season and announced his entry into the portal on June 2nd.

Points to note: Severt announced his commitment to the Red Raiders on June 7 and has one year of eligibility remaining. Severt was a 2023 second-team All-American Athletic Conference selection as USF's No. 2 starter.

These players exhausted their eligibility and finished their collegiate careers at Texas Tech University.
