WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, best known for the achievements of his father Don Jose, took part in a ceremony held at the JBC office on Tuesday to hand over the WBC belt to newly crowned bantamweight champion Junto Nakatani. He participated in the ceremony and won a 4th class belt for his own demolition. Director Sulaiman praised Junto's best performance, saying, “Nakatani is a new source of pride for the WBC, as he brilliantly dethroned Santiago, a powerful title holder who defeated the legendary Nonito Donaire.'' Junto is still young, extremely talented with good height and reach, and could develop into a formidable WBC bantam champion. ” Mauricio visited Japan on his way back from the Philippines and met national hero Manny Pacquiao last week.
The next day, Mauricio visited Yokohama's Ohashi Gym and handed over the WBC Boxer of the Year Award to “monster” Naoya Inoue and his handler Hideyuki Ohashi.
