Arshad Saeed joins Stevens Institute of Technology as its first Chief Online Learning Officer
Stevens Institute of Technology has hired Arshad Saeed as its first chief online learning officer and director of professional education, effective April 15.
Saeed is a proven innovator and has been leading the Experiential Digital Global Education (EDGE) department since 2020 as Vice President for Digital Education and Innovation at Northeastern University in Boston. Said built Northeastern University's digital services into a revenue center and launched significant corporate partnerships.
Prior to joining Northeastern University, Mr. Syed served as associate dean for online programs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has been involved in online programs and digital strategies for his 18 years at Gies College of Business in Illinois, including the creation of his innovative iMBA program, which is one of the largest and most successful online MBA programs in the world. I was engaged in various related duties. Under Mr. Said's leadership, in just his four years, the iMBA program has grown from its original enrollment of 114 to his 3,200.
Overall, Mr. Said brings more than 20 years of expertise in digital transformation in higher education to Mr. Stevens. Throughout his tenure as an advocate of technology adoption in academia, he has championed the integration of technology into education to enhance quality, affordability, and global reach.
Leading online professional education university
In his new role, Mr. Saeed will lead the establishment of the College of Online Professional Education, an independent academic division dedicated to delivering high-quality, technology-enabled online programs. The creation of the college reflects Stevens' commitment to expanding access to education while maintaining academic rigor and relevance.
“Mr. Said's experience driving the digital evolution of education makes him the ideal leader for this vital role,” said Jianmin Koo, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at Stevens College. said in a statement. “His leadership will help propel Stevens to new heights in the field while meeting the evolving needs of students and employers.”
Said added in the announcement, “I am honored to join Stevens Institute of Technology and be at the forefront of shaping the trajectory of online and professional education.” “This role represents a tremendous opportunity to continue our school's rich tradition of excellence and redefine what is possible in online and professional education.”
Saiyed holds an engineering degree from Gujarat University in India and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
