CHARLOTTESVILLE, WV (KDKA) — Pittsburgh Steelers legend Heath Miller is returning to the field as a coach.
Miller will be acting head coach at St. Ann's Belfield, a private school in Virginia. Mr. Miller's four children attended the school, and Mr. Miller and his wife, Katie, are graduates of the University of Virginia.
The tight end was drafted by the Steelers in the first round of the 2005 draft. He played 11 of his seasons in Pittsburgh and played key roles in Super Bowl IV and Super Bowl XLIII.
Miller will replace Joe Sandow, who is retiring at the end of June to return to Greater Atlanta Christian School, where he previously served as assistant head football coach.
“I look forward to leading the Saints football program for the 2024 season. I look forward to building on the strong foundation that Coach Sando has worked so tirelessly to build upon and model the right values on the field.” My goal is to build a team that will do the same thing.'' And off we went,'' Miller said in a news release from the school.
Miller retired in 2015 after spending his entire career as a Pittsburgh Steeler.
School leaders said they look forward to seeing what Miller brings to the team.
“It's a valuable experience for a soccer player to be coached by someone who has played the sport at the highest level,” said Autumn A. Graves, the school's principal. “And while many will focus on his great accomplishments as one of the Steelers' most famous players, what means the most to Heath as a parent at our school is that he is known for his outstanding leadership, teamwork and , I know that having the opportunity to model character and development for the next generation. ”
