Freshmen will join the program ahead of an exciting time in field hockey as Stanford University prepares for its first year in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) next season.
“We are very excited to welcome the class of 2024 to campus soon,” said head coach Roz Ellis. “We have a diverse class coming in with the ability, attitude and work rate to contribute in our first season in the ACC. The foundational pieces are in place and we are looking to bring our class into our culture. Ready to welcome you and push you toward greatness.
With a young but experienced core, the Cardinal have regained 88 percent of their offensive strength from preseason.
Nadine Brenninkmeyer | Men and Women | West Vancouver, British Columbia | Collingwood Secondary School
• Became a member of the Canadian national team in 2018 and is currently a member of the U18 national team.
• Played at club level with West Vancouver Field Hockey Club and Rob Short Coaching Academy.
• Appeared in three national tournaments during his field hockey career (Toronto 2018, Calgary 2019, Vancouver 2022)
• Played for the BC team and won two Canadian National Championships at the U16 and U18 age levels.
• Played as a midfielder on the U18 international tour of France and scored his first international goal of his career.
• Played in the U16 international test series against the United States in 2022.
Haley King | D | Houston, Texas | St. John's School
• Recognized as a top 100 player in the Class of 2024 by Max Field Hockey.
• Named the 2023 West/Midwest Max Field Hockey Region High School Athlete of the Year and also listed on the 2023 NFHCA High School Watch List.
• Selected for 2023 U21 U.S. National Team camp.
• Played hockey in high school at St. John's School and at the club level with the Texas Pride Field Hockey Club.
• Two-time Southwest Preparatory Conference champion (2022-23) and finished both seasons ranked in the top 10 nationally at St. John's.
• Member of the 2023 nationally top-ranked U19 Texas Pride team that won tournament championships at the 2023 Regional Club Championship and National Indoor Tournament, as well as the 2022 Disney Sunshine Showcase and National Hockey Festival.
• Four-time letter winner in field hockey and soccer at St. John's University

• 26 caps in the England system as a member of the U16 (2020-21) and U18 (2021-23) national teams.
• Multiple national championships with Surbiton Hockey Club.
• Won a national championship with St. George's Hockey in 2018.
• Participated in the 2023 U18 Junior European Tournament and the 2022 U188 Nations Tournament in Barcelona.
• Captained England U16 vs. Scotland in 2021.
• Medaled twice in the U14 Club European Hockey Tournament (silver in 2018 and bronze in 2019)
• St. George's team captain for field hockey (2022-23) and soccer (2021-23)
• Won Hockey Colors Award (2022-23), Outstanding Sportswoman Award (2023) and Performance Cup Award (2023) at St. George's University.
Bea Varley | Doctor of Medicine | London, UK | University of Wellington
• Member of England Junior National Team System since 2016.
• Selected for the England Hockey Challenge Cup for the second year in a row (2022-23)
• Finished 5th at the England Indoor Hockey Nationals and became Regional Indoor Hockey Champions in 2023.
• Winner of the 2023 Bowling Achievement Cup, awarded to women who have achieved excellence in multiple disciplines (academic and athletic) at Wellington College.
• Was an England trialist in 2020.
• Served as age-level first team captain multiple times (2019-22) and was Wellington College first team vice-captain in 2023.
• She also played for the first-team netball team at Wellington College, finishing fourth in the 2022 national competition.
