(KNSI) – Famous “Peanuts” characters come to life when “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” takes the stage at St. Cloud Tech High School.
Performances begin Friday at 7 p.m. Saturday's show is scheduled for 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., with the final act rising Sunday at 2 p.m. KNSI News caught up with Tech High School Theater Director John leg. He told KNSI News that the play is interesting because it combines all the comics into one. “You're really just following Charlie Brown through a day in his life. So he's dealing with the struggles of loneliness, trying to deal with Lucy, trying to calm Snoopy down. Linus with separation anxiety. came out of the blanket.”
He explained that the musical allows each character to have a moment to grapple with something. His 31 students, who made up the cast and crew, were able to make the Broadway play their own. “We're just putting our own spin on it. So we've had the kids experiment in the style of Charles Schulz as they create the sets and props and everything. So it's all about It's larger than life, the kids look tiny, like little cartoon characters, and it's bright and fun, so it's really good for the whole family.”
Legg said after eight weeks of practice, he was ready for a brighter situation. “The kids have worked really hard. What we're missing is an audience to give us that feedback, applause, cheers and laughs. We're so excited to share this with everyone.”
The performance time is approximately 2 hours, with an intermission. The concession will be sold as a freewill donation, with all proceeds going to the theater department.
