Free agent forward Joe Ingles has agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, reuniting him with Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley Jr., sources told ESPN on Wednesday.
After learning the Timberwolves would lose Kyle Anderson in free agency, president of basketball operations Tim Connelly negotiated with Ingles' agent, Mark Bartelstein, to work out a deal that would bring his 3-point shooting and playmaking to the Western Conference finalists.
The 36-year-old Ingles played alongside Gobert and Conley in Utah and made the playoffs regularly together.
According to ESPN Stats and Information, Ingles has shot 41% from three-point range (43.5% last season in Orlando), the fourth-highest percentage among players who have attempted at least 2,500 shots since entering the NBA in the 2014-2015 season. Only JJ Redick (42.9%), Stephen Curry (42.1%) and Klay Thompson (41.4%) are behind him.
Ingles has played 10 seasons in the NBA since transferring from Australia and will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics. He played eight seasons with the Jazz before a career-ending ACL tear in 2022. He spent the past two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks and Magic and is set to make his third straight playoff appearance with the Timberwolves.
