All-Star forward Pascal Siakam is looking to sign a four-year, $189.5 million max contract to remain with the Indiana Pacers, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.
Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard and general manager Chad Buchanan made the maximum offer to Siakam and his agents, Todd Ramasar and Ja'afar Choufani of Life Sports Agency, on Tuesday, just after the NBA's new early signing rules allow teams to begin negotiating contract extensions or free-agent deals with their players after the NBA Finals.
Siakam, 30, is expected to sign the contract once the league's free agency period ends on July 6, sources said.
Siakam signed a big contract with the Toronto Raptors in January and played a key role in the franchise's first Eastern Conference finals appearance in a decade. The Pacers pursued him in the final year of his contract, seeing his championship and All-NBA track record as the perfect fit for All-NBA guard Tyrese Haliburton.
The Pacers will have Haliburton and Siakam under contract through 2028 and 2029, respectively.
Siakam averaged 21.3 points while shooting 55% from the field and 39% from the 3-point range in 41 regular season games after joining Indiana. He became just the third player, joining Elgin Baylor (1961) and Wilt Chamberlain (1967), to average 35 points and 10 rebounds in the first two playoff games. He scored 367 points in the 2024 playoffs, the most points scored by a Pacers player since Paul George in 2014.
The 26th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Siakam was a key part of Toronto's first winning season and was named the NBA's Most Improved Player in 2019.
