HONOLULU — The University of Hawaii women's soccer team has added a junior college All-American to its 2024 roster by signing Tokyo forward Wakaba Kogure.
University Head Coach Michelle Nagamine announced the addition of Kogure, who played two seasons at Daytona State University in Daytona Beach, Florida, and will join the Rainbow Wahine as a junior.
Kogure was named to the 2023 National Junior College Athletic Association Division I All-America first team after recording seven goals and seven assists in 16 games last fall. She was also named NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Year for helping Daytona State finish 14-2 and advance to the regional tournament finals.
The two-time All-Region first team selection had 11 goals and five assists in 2022, was named Region 8 Freshman of the Year and was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region team.
Kogure maintained a 4.0 grade point average at Daytona State, was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America second team in 2023-24, and was named NJCAA and FCSAA All-Academic during his career. He was also selected for the team.
The Rainbow Wahine previously announced the signing of freshmen Piper Bertani, Laurea Ah Mook San, Alice Davidson, Lori Gartner and Nalani Damasion for the 2024 season. The Bowes also acquired mid-year transfers Caroline Carter from Missouri State University and Jordyn Eldridge Sagaportele from Delaware State University.
