COLDWATER – The Coldwater Cardinal girls soccer team dominated the Sturgis Trojans on Monday in the Battle of US-12, earning a 6-0 victory.
The Cardinals were led by Carla Miller and Katie O'Dell, who each scored two goals, with four different Cardinals scoring. One goal each came off the feet of Lily Bockheim and Kyle Burnett to round out the Cardinal scoring.
Also recording assists in the Cardinals' win were Riley Sheets, Ava Gilchrist, Bockheim and Odell.
Isabella Poole saved two goals and Coldwater earned the shutout victory.
In the junior varsity game, the Coldwater JV Cardinals tied Sturgis 1-1.
Quincy cancels early season contest against Penfield
QUINCY – The Quincy Oriole soccer team had a heartbreaking varsity soccer game last week, losing 2-1 to Pennfield last Wednesday.
Penfield took an early lead and held a 2-0 advantage at halftime. After the break, the Orioles played a little more energetically and soon Sami Hollenbaugh got a shot to bring the score closer to his 2-1 lead to the Orioles' first goal of the game.

Quincy continued to fight and although they got some solid shots on goal, they were unable to find the back of the net to tie the game and ultimately lost 2-1.
Quincy and Penfield both had six shots on goal in the contest.
