The rapper appeared at Team USA's track and field qualifiers in preparation for his role as a guest commentator for the 2024 Paris Games.
Snoop Dogg broke the world record in the 200 meters by just 15.25 seconds at the U.S. Olympic Team Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon over the weekend.
Snoop was up against some tough competition in this highly unofficial trials race, running alongside four-time Olympic medalist Ato Bolden (bronze medalist in the 200m at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics) and Wallace Spearmon (a multiple-medal winning 200m specialist at the World Championships). Of course, neither Bolden nor Spearmon have eight platinum albums, a world record for the largest gin pour in history, or (one can only imagine) the strongest, most powerful lungs in human history.
But in the end, it was Spearmon who won the race, with Bolden coming in second, but Snoop clearly won the morale victory, joking about his time: “34.44 seconds at 52? Not bad.”
Snoop participated in a mock race in preparation for his stint as a guest commentator for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, which open on July 26. Snoop will provide special reports for NBC and Peacock's Olympic primetime programming, attending various Olympic events, visiting landmarks around Paris and speaking with athletes and their friends and families. Snoop landed the job after his highly successful stint as a bonus commentator alongside Kevin Hart during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
After finishing his race, Snoop took the microphone to provide a bit of commentary on the steeplechase, which is famous for jumping over hurdles and into small puddles.
