And finally, the main event.
Florida A&M's spring football camp culminates Saturday with the annual Orange and Green Spring Game.
Kickoff will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Ken Reilly Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium.
General admission tickets are $15. FAMU's streaming service, Rattlers Plus, will broadcast the game for fans to watch from home.
The spring game will be an opportunity for Rattler Nation and college football fans to preview the game of the defending Black college football national champions.
FAMU boasts a new roster, including first-year head coach James Colsey III and a slew of transfers.
Here are six players to watch at the Rattlers' annual spring game.
Quarterback | Junior Muratovic 7th, Daniel Richardson 10th
Everyone wants to know who will be QB1.
Will it be Junior Muratovic or Daniel Richardson?
Saturday offers a glimpse into the ongoing quarterback battle with Muratovic and Richardson sharing first-team reps.
Muratovic has been with FAMU since 2021, entering his fourth year in the system. He has started his career twice, once as a true freshman and once as a redshirt sophomore last season.
Meanwhile, Richardson transferred to FAMU after stints at Central Michigan and most recently at Florida Atlantic. Although in his first season with the Rattlers and his final year of eligibility, Richardson has started 32 career games at the Football Bowl Subdivision level and helped CMU win the 2021 Sun Bowl as quarterback. .
Tight End | Jeremiah Pruitt | No.0
Jeremiah Pruitt's measurables make him a threat through the air.
With the graduation of Kamari Young, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Pruitte may get even more touches. Last season, Pruitte, a graduate student, caught 13 passes for 202 yards and one touchdown.
Pruitt has great talent to play wide receiver at the FBS level, as he did at Colorado State before transferring to FAMU in 2021.
The mismatches Pruitt creates will help him compete for catches and become a true red zone threat.
Defensive Line | James Ash No.0
James Ash is the top Interior defensive lineman returning to the Rattlers.
The former Wake Forest player is looking to revitalize FAMU's defensive front, especially after Anthony Dunn Jr., Gentle Hunt and Allen Smith Jr. entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Ash is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 280 pounds.
In 2023, Ashe recorded 32 tackles, six of which were for loss in the Rattlers' title game. He also caught an interception for FAMU “Dark Cloud Defense”.
Linebacker | Aric Horn | No.5
With Isaiah Major graduating and Johnny Chaney Jr. entering the transfer portal, Aric Horn looks to become the centerpiece of the FAMU defense.
Horn's rise as FAMU's standout linebacker has been one of the major talking points of football's spring training camp. He transferred from Iowa State University and has been with the Rattlers since 2022.
Last season, Horn, now a graduate student, was part of the Rattlers' stacked defensive rotation. In nine games in 2023, he totaled 10 tackles, two of which were for a loss.
Safety | Demory Tate | No.2
Demorie Tate will be one of FAMU's most intriguing players this season.
A graduate of Freedom High School in Orlando and ranked as a five-star prospect in the class of 2020 by 247Sports, Tate spent the first three years of his college career across the railroad tracks at Florida State University . He is the highest-ranking player signed by the Seminoles during the Mike Norvell era.
Tate, who left FSU in 2022 and missed the 2023 season, signed with FAMU last December.
He served as one of the Rattlers' safeties during the spring and hopes to make an immediate impact in his return to football at High Test of Seven Hills.
