Day 6 Qualifying Heat Sheet
The heat sheets for the sixth day of qualifying revealed that several of the top 16 seeds would be absent. Anna Peplowski (#15 – 2:09.82) elected to end the 2024 Trials early. Peplowski placed 6th in the 400 Freestyle final (4:09.20) and 14th in the 100 Freestyle semifinals (54.60). In the 200 Freestyle, Peplowski placed 5th with a time of 1:57.04 and could earn a spot on the roster, but they will have to wait to see if there are enough doubles available for Priority 3 athletes.
Bella Sims also withdrew from the 200m backstroke. Sims had tough meets after failing to get a second swim in the 400m freestyle and 200m freestyle. With her withdrawal today, that leaves Sims with the 800m freestyle and 200m individual medley to compete in.
In the men's 50m freestyle, Drew Kibler, Justin Lesand Jack Schuster They fell out of the top 16 seeds. Blake Pieroniwas seeded 34th. Kibler was named to the team as a member of the 4x200m freestyle relay. Pieroni finished sixth in that race, but like Peplowski, will have to wait until the field is filled before she can board a plane to Paris.
There were no absentees in the top 16 in the men's 200m individual medley, Michael AndrewSeeded 25th, Andrew has officially withdrawn. SwimSwam reported this at the start of the tournament, and after missing out on a spot in Paris in the 100m breaststroke (8th place – 1:00.11), Andrew will now compete in the remaining events of the 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly.
