Will Sean Mila make another comeback?
Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes were spotted together at the Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia in Miami on Sunday, July 14. The feuding pair's outing sparked reconciliation rumors after fans captured footage of the former Fifth Harmony member, 27, and the “Mercy” singer, 25, sitting side-by-side and chatting during the soccer game at Hard Rock Stadium.
However, “it was just a coincidence that they were there,” a source told People magazine, “and she was actually taking him on as her date.”
Representatives for Cabello and Mendes did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
The former couple began dating in 2019 but split two years later. The “Señorita” duet partners briefly reunited in the spring of 2023 after being spotted hanging out together and kissing at Coachella, but the reunion didn't last long as they seemingly went their separate ways in June of that year.
Shortly after, a source told People magazine that Cabello had started dating again, while another said Mendes was trying to get over the breakup on his own.
“Shawn is still growing and discovering himself and he needs time to do what makes him happy,” the source said at the time, adding that “it was bad timing for Shawn and Camila.”
Mendes and Cabello have been together for more than a decade. The two met in 2014 as tour mates opening for Austin Mahone, and have repeatedly denied dating rumors since, releasing collaborative songs like “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Señorita.” But their relationship took a new turn in 2019, and they were reportedly romantically linked after photos of the pair appearing openly affectionate in July of that year. That fall, Mendes confirmed that they were “officially” dating on the Fourth of July.
During their relationship, the musicians collaborated more and even sparked engagement rumors, but their romance fizzled out in November 2021. In a joint statement shared on their Instagram Stories, the “Christmas Song” collaborators announced their breakup, writing, “Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for each other as people is stronger than ever ❤️. We started our relationship as best friends and will always remain best friends.”
Finally, the two concluded by saying, “Thank you so much for your support from the very beginning ❤️❤️❤️ Camila and Shawn.”
Cabello spoke about the possibility of reconciling again on her show in March. Call her daddy Speaking on the podcast, she revealed that she finds it “helpful” to reach out to her ex from time to time to clarify things.
“I think it's known that I'm a fan, personally,” the “I Luv It” performer said, “I guess I'm an impulsive person in that sense. If I feel it, I say it, and I'm not good at not saying it. The worst place for emotions to reside is my heart, so I'm like Ryan Gosling. notebook “It's such a big deal to build a house for this person. I'd rather say it and see what happens and wake up the next day to find out it was recorded in detail.”
Cabello then addressed her possible 2023 reconciliation with Mendes, explaining, “I chose that path. That's the reality. It was a great path, and we had fun times. We had fun moments… It didn't take long for both of us to be like, 'There's something wrong with this, and we don't need to try so hard to make it work. Everything's going to be fine.'”
Cabello recently released her fourth studio album. C. Kisswill be released on June 28. The album includes a song called “June Gloom,” which fans believe was inspired by Mendes, as it's about an ex-lover dating another woman. “If she's so great / Why in the hell are you in this town,” Cabello sings on the chorus. “If you love her so much / What do you wanna know?”
