WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson hasn't given up on his tenacity despite having no interest in a fight with Vasily Lomachenko.
Today, Stevenson (21-0, 10 KOs) encouraged his supporters to do his dirty work by prodding Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) into a fight with him.. It's beyond embarrassing to see Shakur begging like this.
Stevenson needs to move on and do the right thing by giving Edwin de los Santos a rematch to settle the controversy from their fight last November. Shakur needs to show some pride and never say Loma's name again.
cold and harsh truth
The reality is that Lomachenko wants nothing to do with Shakur because Shakur is unpopular and has a safety-first style. Roma wants a money fight with a popular fighter.
“Someone ask Loma if he's going to fight me after Kambosas. You're all asking the wrong questions, dude,” Shakur Stevenson said. Xwould like to fight Vasily Lomachenko if he wins against George Kambosos Jr. on May 11th.
“He's not going to win, but the question is, will he fight me?'' (laughs)'' Shakur said he would fight Kambosos Jr. if he beat Lomachenko. answered the question.
If Lomachenko defeats Kambosos, Stevenson said he would likely fight Emmanuel Navarrete next.
“I'm all for it,” Shakur said of his interest in fighting Gervonta Davis and Lomachenko next.
The Battle of De Los Santos was the decisive point.
Stevenson will have to give up his hopeless dream of facing Lomachenko. Because that won't happen in a million years.
Unfortunately, Shakur's previous fight with Edwin de los Santos permanently ruined his chances of facing Lomachenko or Emmanuel Navarrete. Both fighters, who have been promoted to Top Rank, now want nothing to do with Shakur. That fight ruined it forever for Shakur and doomed him.
If Shakur gives De Los Santos a rematch and stands in the pocket the entire match, it will help force bigger players to fight him. Shakur won't do that because de los Santos hits too hard and if he fights stationary he'll get bitten.
Raymond Muratala situation
At this point, the only fighter Shakur can expect to receive an offer from Top Rank is undefeated WBC No. 2 Raymond Muratala (19-0, 16 KOs).
Interestingly, Shakur doesn't want to fight him for some reason. Muratala is like a better version of Edwin de los Santos, and Shakur had all sorts of problems against the man last November, going 12 rounds and getting booed from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. was showered with Murata is like De Los Santos 2.0, but even better.
Top Rank won't let Shakur fight Lomachenko or Emmanuel Navarrete because he only has one fight left on his contract. Stevenson, 26, is expected to leave Top Rank and sign with PBC when his contract expires after one more fight.
