Free agent Shakur Stevenson will be hoping to put in a top-class performance against Artem Harootunyan. The New Jersey native will defend his WBC lightweight title against the German on Saturday, July 6th in Newark, with all bouts broadcast in the US on ESPN+.
Before he turned 28, Stevenson had won featherweight and super featherweight gold and beat Edwin de los Santos for the WBC lightweight belt in November.
Stevenson, a 2016 Olympic silver medalist, will face Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko in a unification bout, and he'll need to perform well, at least compared to his most recent outings, like Davis' win over Frank Martin. Stevenson is up to the task.
“I'm at a higher level than Frank Martin. I think Artem is a good fighter, but he's going to be fighting someone else on July 6,” Shakur Stevenson told Sean Zittel, via Boxing News 24. “I'm fired up, and with that being said, he's got to fight someone who's very motivated. I'm coming to put on a show.”

Harutyunyan lost to Martin in a bout to determine the top contender, but “The Original” managed to get a matchup against Stevenson. The 2016 Olympic bronze medalist has seven wins by knockout, and the underdog is poised to cause a major upset.
The card also includes Oshaquie Foster defending his WBC super featherweight title against Robson Conceição, who will be making his third title defense while Conceição looks to win gold in his third attempt.
