Seksan Ol Kwanmuang is always ready to put on a show. His next fight will take place on Friday, April 5th at ONE Friday Fights 58. The Thai star is set to introduce Yutaro Asahi to ONE Championship in a 142-pound catchweight contest.
The 35-year-old has enjoyed incredible success since joining ONE last year. He had a perfect 8-0 record in the organization and earned a six-figure contract in addition to numerous performance bonuses. His career resurgence truly changed his life.
“Last year was the best year since I started this career. This year was the most successful year for me. My life has changed a lot. The quality of life with my family has improved significantly. It's about taking care of yourself, training hard and having a supportive family, including my son, wife and parents,” Seksan told ONE.
Seksan simply loves entertaining his fans. “The man who won't give in to anyone'' feels no pressure other than to perform well. On April 5th, he will continue to shine under the bright lights of Bangkok, Thailand, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
“The only time I feel pressure is when I know that my performance is not entertaining enough. My goal is to do my best in the ring and provide the best entertainment for my Thai fans and fans around the world.” said the 35-year-old.
Although he doesn't need to jump into title contention right away, Seksan is always looking to raise his hand. So he's spent time trying to beat Asahi's skill set in this camp. The Japanese striker's powerful punch is at the top of the list of concerns.
“I watched the video of his fight and I think he has great combinations and smooth movements. I know that all the fighters that ONE sends me are at an elite level, so I underestimated him. I can't. This fight is also going to be a tough task for me. He has powerful combinations, especially body shots. And the other thing that bothered me is the knee. He gave me a war. I think he's going to set it up. He wants to go head-to-head with me. He won't give in easily,” Seksan explained.
However, Seksan believes he has a distinct advantage in 4oz Muay Thai. The Unyielding Man plans to trap his opponent in a phone booth and use close quarters combat to further his victory. And if it comes early, it will be the very best cherry blossom.
“If I can knock him out, I'll do it right away. You can't underestimate Japanese boxers. They're hard hitters with dangerous combinations. I know I'm slower than him. I’ll try to use it a lot. I’ll try to beat him soon,” Seksan said.
ONE Friday Fights 58 will be broadcast live on Friday, April 5th. The game begins at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT. The event can be viewed at watch.onefc.com for $24.99.
