Finally it comes.
After an 11-year hiatus that was sparked by a lawsuit filed by former UCLA basketball player Ed O'Bannon and the start of name, image and likeness deals for college athletes, EA Sports' cult-favorite video game College Football 25 has been released. The game last appeared in 2013.
Now, with the NCAA allowing NIL contracts, the game has made a spectacular comeback. Every player who chose to play in the game received $600 for their appearance and a free copy of the game. For the first time, the game featured the player's name.
The game was met with a rapturous reception that extended to Tempe, where Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham pranked his players by giving them fake, special edition games after they won a planking contest at the end of practice in early June. The video caused quite a stir on social media.
ASU players don't have to wait any longer: the game is already out. Public early access for the game will begin on Monday, June 15th, with the rest of the global launch taking place on Friday, July 19th.
