Birmingham, Alabama – The Southeastern Conference has established the schedule format for the 2025 football season, it was announced Wednesday.
Similar to the 2024 SEC football schedule, during the 2025 season, each team will play eight conference games plus one required opponent from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, or Major Independent. We will be competing against each other.
Each school will play the same opponents in 2025 as they were scheduled to play in 2024, with the locations being changed to ensure equal home and away games throughout the two seasons.
So in 2025, Texas will host Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, and the Allstate Red River Rivals vs. Oklahoma State at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. becomes the home team of The Longhorns are scheduled to compete in contests at Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky and Mississippi State. Schedule details for the 2025 football season will be announced at a later date.
The 2025 schedule format was approved last week by a vote of the SEC President and Board of Directors following a recommendation from the league's Director of Athletics.
The 2025 season will be the second year that the SEC Championship Game will be played between the top two teams out of the 16 teams in the conference standings at the end of the regular season. Starting with the 2024 season, the SEC will eliminate divisional standings.
