READING, Pa. – The Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers and the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have announced that forward Todd Skarving has signed with the club for the 2024-25 season.
The 32-year-old Scarving joins the Royals in his seventh professional season. A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, the six-year pro career includes one game in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies in 2022-23 and two Kelly Cup championships with the Newfoundland Growlers (2018-19) and Florida Everblades (2023-24).
Skirving has totaled 149 points (74 goals, 75 assists) in 301 ECHL regular season games with Orlando, Utah, Atlanta, Newfoundland and Florida, and added 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) in 64 Kelly Cup Playoff games.
Skirving signed with Florida on April 6, 2024 after Newfoundland ceased operations on April 2. Prior to joining Florida's champion team, he played five seasons as a member of the Growlers, winning a Kelly Cup title in 2019 and serving as vice-captain in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons and captain in the 2023-24 season. In addition, Skirving represented Newfoundland in the 2023 All-Star Classic, where he recorded career highs in goals (31), assists (27), points (58) and plus-minus (+15).
Prior to beginning his professional career, Skirving played four seasons at Rochester Institute of Technology from 2013-2017. With the Tigers he appeared in three Atlantic Hockey Association championships and recorded 51 points (19 goals, 32 assists) in 127 NCAA games.
Skirving played two seasons in the United States Hockey League with the Sioux Falls Stampede (2011-13) as well as one season in the British Columbia Hockey League between the Vernon Vipers and Prince George Spruce Kings (2010-11).
