Ryan Garcia's attempt to prove his innocence took a step forward today when his B sample was opened and will be tested for the presence of the banned PED Ostarine.
B Sample being analyzed
According to X's Dan Rafael, Ryan's B sample will be opened for testing today and results will be known within a few days, but due to the weekend and Memorial Day holiday on Monday, they may not be known until next week. It is said that there is also a gender.
The B sample would be tested only for ostarine, the substance Ryan tested positive for, and nothing else. A positive test for the substance would likely result in a suspension, a fine and potentially the overturning of his April 20 win over Devin Haney in New York.
It was changed to a no-contest, meaning Ryan would be awarded the loss if Haney had his way. In this case, the victory goes to Haney.
Ryan's fans want his B sample to be clean. Because they want to keep his win going and see him return to the ring soon for a rematch with Haney or to fight other popular fighters at 140 or 147.
If Ryan's B sample is positive, it could give Haney's career new life and he can use it as an excuse for losing his fight against the popular social media star last April.
Even if Ryan's B sample was tainted, fans would still see Haney as the loser of that match because it was too dominant a performance to see the result as a situation where Kingery got a little pharmaceutical help.
Thurman's Garcia review
“Ryan is a lottery ticket in boxing right now. He's going to do what he wants. He didn't put on weight. [for the Devin Haney fight]. He doesn't care about titles. He has one of the biggest platforms among fans of many mainstream boxers,” Keith Thurman said about Ryan Garcia on FightHub TV.
“Ryan still has room to grow. How elite he is is up to him. There's real fire going on here, so be careful who you pick,” Thurman continued. “I just melted the marshmallows. [Haney]”Many are wondering what Pit Bull Cruz would do if he were Ryan Garcia.”
Ryan said he wants to fight Pitbull Cruz not because he wants to fight a popular fighter next, but because he named Errol Spence. Pitbull is only known by die-hard boxing fans and a fight with Ryan would not bring in much in terms of PPV buys beyond what Kingly would bring.
