Rutgers University football had a very busy weekend, recruiting nine freshmen for the Class of 2025. Which of these freshmen are likely to make a big impact for the Knights in the coming years?
From those, I have selected three who I believe will be outstanding players in the future.
1. Jordan Houston, WR
Houston was rated as the 69th best wide receiver in the country and the 6th best recruit in the state of Connecticut. His best qualities are his speed and separation ability. He will fill a need for a true standout receiver that Rutgers has had for a long time. But the most important question here is which college did he choose Rutgers for? Penn State, Maryland and Pittsburgh all offered to Houston, so it's clear they saw something in him too.
2. Braxton Kyle, DL
Don't get me wrong, Kyle is still a raw talent, but the reason I put him on this list is because of his measurable numbers. He's a 6'3, 320 pound defensive tackle. He's a big guy who can get past blocks with his incredible speed and use his size to take them head on when necessary. He's big enough to plug holes in run defense, but he still has room to improve in terms of technique, something he'll be able to fix once he gets to Rutgers.
3. Michael Clayton, C.B.
Like Kyle, Clayton is a raw talent that could be developed into something great. Clayton is a little light at 6'1″ and 175 pounds, but that will improve when he attends Rutgers. His main attribute is speed. The Georgia prospect boasts a 4.47 second 40-yard dash and a 10.44 second 100-meter dash. The talent is there, he just needs to develop. We all know Schiano has developed defensive backs. He now has a guy with the speed to cover anyone. Now it's up to the coach.
