The Afterschool Learning Center for Robotics and STEM will host weekly camps this summer aimed at promoting open creativity, deep inquiry, and project-based learning.
Founded by aerospace engineers Bing Jiang and Dr. George Kirkman, Rolling Robots is home to several world-class competition teams based in Los Angeles and continues to win numerous top awards at the VEX Robotics World Championship. Masu.
“I believe that every child is a genius from the beginning. And when we equip and train them with more technical tools, they learn to design robots, code, practice teamwork, and defeat “Through the process of experiencing challenges and standing up, you will achieve success and walk the path to becoming a true technological genius,” Jiang said.
Weekly summer camps allow children ages 5 to 15 to explore a non-competitive rolling robot camp designed to spark new interest in robotics and STEM. can. Participants are divided into age groups and learn technical tools, engineering processes, and creative thinking through hands-on work.
Camp starts as early as June 3rdrd in multiple cities in Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties. Sessions are held in the morning and afternoon, Monday through Friday, one week at a time. Alternatively, you can also camp all day.
“For younger age groups, a half-day is best, but for older children, we designed the camps with different themes to create a full-day experience,” said Jiang.
Junior robot builders and little engineers build take-home robots and learn about different engineering professions every day at camp. Campers will learn about Lego coding and building robots for her 7- to 8-year-olds. Campers ages 8-12 and up will learn to build and code VEX IQ robots, as well as her C++ coding for VEX robots, Minecraft and Roblox game design, depending on the camp selected.
Campers who want to continue building robots year-round can eventually join a robotics competition team and use other complex systems and strategies for competition.
“These competitions encourage kids to learn more and develop organizational skills in a student-centered program. We are coaches and mentors, and we teach the fundamentals, but ultimately we teach our students Let them decide, what do they want to do? What strategy do they want to play? Whether it's during the school year or during summer camp, the students are always at the center of the activity,” Jiang said.
