Rob Lowe says he was blown away by Tom Cruise while filming 'The Outsiders'

The actor says he used to box with Tom back when he was a teenager filming The Outsiders … and that in one memorable sparring session, Tom beat him.

As Rob explained recently on “The Rich Eisen Show,” he was 17 and Tom was 18 when they filmed the movie together, and they worked out, ran, and boxed together while holed up in a hotel on set. They were high on testosterone.

Rob says the sparring matches were intense and competitive, even involving headgear and mouthpieces, and that Tom once knocked him out in a hotel hallway.

Rob recalls that Tom was a “beast” with a muscular build, saying his own arms looked like “pipe cleaners” at the time. During one sparring session, Rob landed a pretty good punch that rang Tom's bell, but the next thing he knew he was on the ground.

Rob says after the first punch, Tom got a black eye and TC knocked him out.
