Forget about referees and their missed calls.
Former NBA star and Philadelphia native Rasheed Wallace was trying to explain to the Knicks heading into Thursday's Game 3 why the 76ers were in a 2-0 hole in the series when he asked another person, 100 million. He had his sights set on the 80 million dollar man, Tobias Harris.
“You can't blame Buddy.” [Hield], But. He just got here. But I can blame Tobias,” Wallace said.seed & tyler”
“If you're listening, we're mad at you too, dog. You have to take a step to solve the problem. Oh, you can have all the bread. Earn 10 points. We need more than 12-5 (sic) from him.”
Warning: Graphic language
Harris is being paid $39.3 million this season and should be one of the 76ers' core players, but he did little offensively against the Knicks.
Part of the 76ers' problem is the lack of production from players outside of Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid, and Harris is a big part of that problem.
Harris scored just seven points on 3-of-7 shooting in Game 1, but scored 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting in Game 2, which was a disappointing loss.
He averaged only 8.5 points, less than half of his season average of 17.2 points.
To his credit, Harris is grabbing nine rebounds in each game.
Wallace, who played his final season with the Knicks in 2012-13, said if Harris' shots don't fall, he needs to find another way to impact the game.
“That's the key to how we step up. It's not a matter of, 'Okay, we had a bad shooting game tonight, so we've got to come out here tonight and prove we can shoot in Game 2.' And now you might have another horrific shooting,” Wallace said.
“You have to make a difference in the game. All that’s going on is switching, so you can be a little bit greedy. Mitch [Robinson] He's a good defender and a good shot blocker, but when he comes out, other than that, like when Embiid goes down to the bench, it's not like we don't have a shot blocker, we don't have a shot blocker. It's not like there aren't any – there are blockers out there.
“You've got to try, dog. You've got to try hard. Like I said, bring that boy energy, that full energy.”
