Story from Holmes CC Athletics:
Rafael Costa has joined the Holmes Community College soccer program as an assistant coach for the men's and women's soccer teams.
Prior to coming to Holmes, Costa served as the girls head coach at Starkville High School and the director of coaching at TFC Starkville since 2021. Prior to moving to Starkville, he coached at MS Rush soccer and volunteered with the Mississippi College men's program twice (Fall 2019 and Spring 2021).
He finished his collegiate career at the University of Mississippi in 2019, where he served as captain and was named First Team All-GSC in 2018, while also earning D2CCA All-South Region honors in his senior season. Costa was also selected to the University of Mississippi 2010 Men's Soccer All-Decade Team.
Costa completed his Master's in Professional Communication in Sport from the University of Mississippi in May 2019. He also holds a Bachelor's in Soccer Studies from Solent University (Southampton, UK).
Costa holds an FA Level 1 coaching licence and also currently coaches MS Rush United's ECNL boys team.
Rafa and his wife Rebecca love to travel and live in Madison with their daughter, Adalynn.
