In Tuesday's 2A Greater St. Helens boys soccer showdown, RA Long scored three goals in the second half to pull away Washougal and win 4-0.
Gary Paredes contributed to the Jacks' scoring with a goal and an assist. Paredes pounced on the rebound of Liam Hendrickson's shot to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute.
The Jacks held a 1-0 lead in the second half and found some solid goals. In the 69th minute, Andres Orozcos hit a shot from 30 yards out that hit the Washougal keeper at the near post, giving the Jacks a 2-0 lead. Two minutes later, Gavin Guyer scored his first goal of the season from a pass from Alex Wooden from well outside the penalty area. Rodolfo Santiago scored in the 79th minute. For the Jacks, RA long keeper Raul Sanchez kept a clean sheet.
RA Long coach Max Anderson said: “Every result matters so we're thrilled to get the three points.'' “I also think the team grew a little bit tonight in terms of confidence and belief. Great teams always find a way to break out of a close game.”
