Jonathan Smith headed into familiar territory to make Michigan State football's first commitment for the 2025 class.
This honor goes to Leo Hannan, a quarterback from Servit High School in Anaheim, California. He announced his intention to become a Spartan on Monday night. The three-star prospect from Long Beach chose the Spartans over offers from Colorado, Virginia and several other major conferences, according to multiple recruiting sites.
According to his MaxPreps profile, Hannan completed 197 of 309 passes (63.8%) for 2,429 yards, 14 touchdowns, and nine interceptions as a junior starter for Servite in 2023, while also rushing for 213 yards and six scores. was recorded.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Hannan is rated the No. 50 quarterback in the nation and the No. 64 player in California, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. Recruiting sites list Hannan as the No. 22 quarterback in the 2025 class.
Smith is familiar with Southern California, as he grew up in Pasadena before playing at Oregon State and then starting his coaching career. Aidan Childs, who is expected to be the starting quarterback this fall, also hails from Smith's hometown. Katin Hauser, who started seven games for MSU last season after leaving and transferred to East Carolina in the offseason, is also from Anaheim.
