The 2024 Triple Crown Series will expand to five events, significantly increasing domestic competitive training opportunities and prize money for athletes. This expanded series is co-sponsored by Oak Cliff, Windmark and Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club.
Six of the Olympic boats (ILCA 6, ILCA 7, 49er, 49erFX, 470, and Nacra 17) will be invited to compete for up to $450,000 in prize money this summer in Oyster Bay, New York.
Since 2017, Oak Cliff has provided $1.2 million in prize money grants directly to Olympic hopefuls. Public donations to the Triple Crown Fund are welcomed and encouraged to provide need-based training scholarships to young sailors with Olympic dreams.
The Triple Crown system requires athletes to show up and perform at the venue. Pre- and post-training camps encourage team collaboration and learning. The five-race-a-day schedule pushes the limits. Grants can only be used for items that are critical to an athlete's path to success.
“The Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club, with its strong history of Olympic success, is excited to be part of this revolutionary initiative,” said Brigadier General Robert Faziola. “We are hopeful that with our collective efforts, the United States will be back on the podium at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.”
The Triple Crown Series seamlessly integrates three high-performance training camps, providing an unparalleled platform for Sailors to share resources and knowledge across classes and fleets. Oyster Bay will be the premier performance training location in the United States this summer.
