Mike Perry has extensive experience in UFC and BKFC, but he had only had one boxing match prior to fighting Jake Paul, which resulted in him being knocked out by a 7-0 prospect.
This Saturday, Mike Perry will face off against Jake Paul, but it won't be the “Platinum” athlete's first time in the ring.
The 32-year-old Flint, Michigan native has had a successful career in the world of combat sports, going 14-8 in mixed martial arts with the likes of UFC before moving to the world of bare-knuckle boxing. He currently holds a 5-0 record in BKFC, with wins over fighters such as Eddie Alvarez, Luke Rockhold and Michael “Venom” Page, and is hoping his gloveless style can translate to the boxing ring.
Unknown to many, Perry actually tried his hand at boxing many years ago, but it didn't end as Platinum hoped: in 2015, he faced Kenneth McNeil, a promising fighter who was 7-0 at the time, on the undercard of Roy Jones Jr., but ended up getting knocked out in the fourth round.
Footage of the bout shows Perry staggering to the canvas after being hit by a powerful overhand right from McNeil and being counted out by referee Andrew Glenn. While McNeil has amassed an impressive boxing record (13-5), Perry focuses primarily on mixed martial arts.
But the brawler will be looking to avenge his only boxing defeat when he goes head-to-head against 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul on Saturday at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. Paul was originally scheduled to face Mike Tyson on July 20 in Arlington, Texas, but the 57-year-old boxing legend was forced to postpone the bout until November due to health concerns.
Born and raised in Cleveland, he became a troublemaker under the bright lights of Los Angeles before eventually finding his own paradise in Puerto Rico. Jake “El Gallo de Dorado” Paul will face Mike Perry this Saturday in Florida.

Determined to fight as scheduled, “Problem Boy” Paul will take on “Platinum” Perry on short notice and hopes to improve on his 9-1 record once the action settles in on Saturday night. Paul began his boxing career facing fellow YouTubers Deji Olatunji and Aneson Gib before defeating former basketball player Nate Robinson.
Since then, Perry has defeated former UFC stars Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley (X2), Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz, with his only loss coming in a split decision loss to Tommy Fury last February. Meanwhile, Perry has been involved in some of the bloodiest fights in the history of mixed martial arts, having his nose totally destroyed by Vicente Luque in a 2019 UFC bout and knocking out Rockhold's teeth at BKFC last year.
Jake Paul will face Mike Perry on July 20 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
