Jon Jones may face time in court for allegedly assaulting a drug tester who came to his home to take a sample, but the UFC heavyweight champion has not been arrested or taken into custody over the incident.
An NBC News report on Sunday incorrectly reported that Jones was arrested on Saturday. A police report has surfaced from a Drug Free Sports agent, in which she claims Jones took her phone during a visit and left the house in “terror” after he allegedly threatened her. And she threatened to kill her. As a result, he was issued summonses for two separate charges of assault and interference with communications for taking her phone.
Representatives from Bernalillo County, New Mexico and the Albuquerque Police Department confirmed to MMA Fighting on Sunday that Jones was not arrested or taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Jones also made similar statements in other social media posts in which he responded to these rumors and strongly stated that he intends to fight the charges.
“I wanted to address some of the misinformation that's been circulating this morning,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “I woke up to a false alarm that I had been arrested. I have not been arrested. In fact, I am currently in Texas with my daughters for a volleyball tournament. I'm sorry to have to do this, but I understand that given my past issues, I could be an easy target. It's important to set the record straight and ensure the truth is told. is.
“Recently, I had a tester visit me while I was taking a nap celebrating my birthday. When I woke up, I was caught off guard by the unprofessional attitude and protocol by one of the testers, causing frustration and profanity. However, I want to emphasize that I will never threaten anyone, get in someone's face, raise my voice at someone, or engage in any form of assault. It is unfortunate that false news has been spread without proper fact-checking. I would like to assure you that I will vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations. . The truth is that the incident simply didn't happen.”

Albuquerque police also issued an updated version of the report originally filed by drug inspectors seeking to indict Jones in the incident. An officer was able to speak with Jones on the phone and took notes about Jones' response to the charges, the report said.
Jones claimed that she was “a little worried because I was hungover from the night before,” and that she had already read the drug tester's report to the UFC and that “she was a liar.” “At no time did I threaten to harm or kill anyone,” Jones said.
In the original report, a drug tester identified as Crystal Martinez said Jones asked her, “Why are all these motherfuckers coming so early? Do you know what happens to people who come to my house… they do?” It is stated that he said. She ends up dying. ”
Jones never said that, but he did ask the agency to “tell everyone at headquarters not to send people home too early because it could be a dangerous environment.” He claimed to have told him. Jones told police that when the drug tester asked him if he wanted to add any citations to his report, he said he would submit a drug test. According to the report, Jones made it clear that he meant there “may be a party going on” at his home or “there may be multiple people there.”
Jones admitted they used profanity toward the drug testers, but later claimed he apologized for swearing at them. He also denied receiving Martinez's cell phone or putting it in his pocket, as Martinez claimed in her initial police report. Ms. Jones claims that at one point she picked up her cell phone, believing it to be hers, but that she then placed it on her counter. Jones told police she believed Martinez “made up her story” because she was “offended that he used profanity.”
Before leaving, Jones claimed he high-fived Martinez and hugged a colleague who came to take a urine sample, making it seem like the situation was over. Mr Jones posted security camera footage from his home on Saturday along with his initial statement and was provided by police with a link to upload the footage to the case file.
As of Sunday, online records available in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, did not yet indicate any formal charges against Jones. UFC officials confirmed that MMA Fighting had asked for comment regarding the situation surrounding Jones, but did not respond as of press time.
